Value

September 20th, 2021

The cyclical opposition between the Sun and the Moon culminates today in yet another full moon, this time in the sign of Pisces along the 2nd - 8th house axis. Another opposition simultaneously marks the sky with Venus in the 9th house in Scorpio facing off Uranus in the 4th house in Taurus. Since Taurus and Scorpio are the traditional rulers of the 2nd and 8th house respectively, this double opposition brings up questions and confrontations in regards to value, a key descriptor of those houses and signs, which here refers simultaneously to the ethical values we inherit and we enact, to the appreciation we are able to feel (or not) and to the kind of riches and abundance that is materialised through their interplay.

The Sun in the 8th house in Virgo, makes visible abstract ideas of value that are usually hidden, unspoken and unspeakable (8th house) because they implicitly organize the collective and its institutions. Joined by Mars, already in the sign of Libra, this clarity and vision gifted by the Sun comes with/as a sense of urgency, an action or an impulse to relate or appreciate otherwise.

The Moon sits right across in the 2nd house, joining Neptune in the sign of Pisces, its domicile. This particularly watery moonlight renders sensible the value(s) we embody personally in the way we live and act.  Be them feelings, intuitions and dreams (Moon) or vibes, fantasies and ideals (Neptune), those values show up in the flesh, as a pull or a sense, and perhaps in unexpected ways through our immediate environment, given Uranus’s tricky aspects to both the Moon and the Sun.

Read this way, this full moon in Pisces comes an opportunity to confront the ways value is embodied both personally and collectively. How do abstract ideas of value shape the collective and its institution? how does value as felt appreciation gather and orient our movements, materialize our bodies and immediate geographies? Where are the resonances and dissonances between the two?

And what if the Moon, attuned to the watery vibration of Pisces could help us sense how we feel, and are made feel, about those collective ideas of value that the Sun helped us identify? And what if the clarity of the Sun could be affected and inflected, or perhaps diffracted, by the moonlight and the information its frequency carries? What may change?
