Expanding Intensity

November 19th, 2021

As the Sun and the Moon oppose once again in their cyclical dance, the Earth gets in the way, casting its shadow over the surface of the Moon making a partial lunar eclipse.

The Sun is shining from the 3rd house in the sign of Scorpio making our immediate environment, communication and knowing extra intense. Joined by Mercury and Mars, the Sun gifts us with clarity in expressing and acting upon our deepest feelings, all that which was hidden, unacknowledged or unspoken that is no longer possible to ignore. The intensity of this Solar/Martian/Mercurial light washes over and around the Earth projecting its shadow on the Moon, giving a glimpse of its shadow, as a kind of inverted mirror or a self-reflection of a twisted kind. A reflection that does not show or clarify but one that hollows, haunts and gives a sense of where we sit in all this intensity and how we might go about transmuting it. The Moon showcases the Earth’s shadow from the sign of Taurus in the 9th house, making the abstractions that structure our values and believes tangible, material, sensible in our bodies and in the earth itself.

Jupiter squares both the Sun and the Moon from the 6th house in Aquarius, hinting at the opportunity this placement offers, a rethinking of service, at the most abstract and inclusive level. A reorientation to service (to work and the body), done for humans and nonhumans as well as the planet itself, that rehearses its generative, expansive, creative aspects. A task, which is, as it turns out,  facilitated by the influence of Pluto in Capricorn in the 5th house, which stirs deep creativity, a sense of adventure and a feel for profound transformation in the way the sandwiched Earth can approach this strange self-confrontation.

How does the intensity of this moment allow us to sense each other, the planet, our body? what thinking becomes possible in this depth? As we go about contemplating the shadow we cast through this lunar eclipse, expanding intensity is the work.
