Singularity

Facing off a Sun sailing across the early degrees of Gemini, this Sagittarius Moon exudes warmth. Everything around it, illuminated by it shares its soft, reddish light. It is as if that which is usually considered the core of one’s ‘single being’ is reflected back by Moon light, that is, by everything you happen to attend to these days. Full Moon in Sagittarius, opposite a First House Sun – what would you expect? It cannot but remind humans that, like everything else, each one of us is only ‘singular.’ Each, that is, is an echo of everything else, each inflected by how implicated each existent and event is with one another, all and at once.

Full Moon in Sagittarius, on the Seventh House, also faces but does not directly confront Uranus at the very beginning of a First House, with Taurus on the Cusp. No wonder this Supermoon is also gifting us here on Earth with an eclipse. As if the New Moon and the First Quarter in Taurus had not already reminded us that all that happens and exists is re/turn, renewal. They reminded us that the violence of value is also the violence justified in the name of what is valued. That is, in the name of that which our prevailing mode of thinking associates with the one and the same, that is, with the one (unity) which comprehends all and only those who are alike (identity).

Following a New Moon in Taurus, and a First Quarter in Leo, both fixed, this mutable Moon, on the Seventh House is challenging the First House Sun to attend to the shift in thinking announced by the New Moon and to face the crisis evidenced by the First Quarter. As the Sun proceeds its journey through Gemini, it is reflected back to us, through a Moon commingled with the Earth – a reddish Moon reflecting both the Sun light and Earth’s atmosphere. In the next few weeks, it will give as the chance to reflect and meditate on what it will take to bring an end to this lethal rule of unity and identity, in all its manifestations.
